Can I bring my child for 1 day of camp?
Colonels Camp offers a daily camp option for busy families. Contact the youth programming intern at Brittany.Fuson@eku.edu for more information on a daily option.
Can I get a refund if my child can’t come?
Illness, injury, or other extenuating circumstances documented by a physician or accredited third party may be directed to the youth programming intern for consideration of a refund. These requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis and may or may not be awarded. Daily credits/refunds are not available
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check and all major credit cards. Please make checks payable to Eastern Kentucky University. Payment is due at the time of registration.
What forms do I need to complete to enroll my child?
Colonels Camp Registration is required for participation in the Eastern Kentucky University Campus Recreation Youth Programs. It provides parents/guardians the opportunity to enter all required medical information, authorized release, emergency contact and waiver of liability, assumption of risk, and indemnity agreement for the Colonels Camp.
What are the standard hours of camp?
Standard program hours are 8AM-4:45PM Drop-off starts at 7:30AM and pick-up starts at 4:30PM
Do you off early or late care? What is the cost of extra hours?
Early Care is available from 7-7:30AM for $30/week. After Care is available from 5PM-6PM for $30/week. Both, early and after-care is $45/week.
Where do I drop off/pick up my child?
Colonels Camp check-in and check-out is located at the Fitness and Wellness Center Welcome Desk. Parking is available in Van Hoose Lot (located directly in front of Fitness and Wellness Center on Van Hoose Drive). If the lot is closed for some other reason, you may use other student parking lots in the vicinity. Colonels Camp staff will be on-site every morning and evening to assist with drop-off and pick-up.
Does my child need to bring any extra clothes?
Please send a swimsuit and towel on days when campers have the option to participate in free swim in pool. The days will be highlighted in program guide.
Is equipment provided?
Yes. Colonels Camp provides all equipment for each of our activities.
What should my child wear to camp each day?
We recommend that all campers wear comfortable clothing such as a t-shirt, shorts, or any athletic wear. Campers must wear tennis shoes every day. On days of swim time, campers should also bring sandals in addition to their shoes.
Will my child have adequate supervision throughout the day? What certifications do the staff members have?
Safety is our #1 priority. Our campers get the care they deserve with our 10-to-1 camper-to-staff ratio. All our staff is certified in adult/child CPR, AED, and Standard First Aid.
Can I pick up my child early from camp?
Yes, however, staff cannot escort individual campers from scheduled events to meet those picking them up. Parents must make prior arrangements to pick up their child at the scheduled location.
Is it okay if my child brings personal items such as cell phone, playing cards, books, etc.?
We ask the campers to NOT bring any valuable or personal items with them camp. The camp provides numerous activities to keep each camper engaged throughout the day.
Are campers separated into groups based on their age?
While some activities may require campers to be put into their age group, many of our activities allow campers to participate together.
